Recognizing the need for a sportier version of the hot selling Ford Explorer, Ford introduced the Ford Explorer Sport earlier this year. The explorer sport combines some unique styling features with some serious performance enhancements to create a sporty, rugged, fuel efficient and comfortable SUV.  Perhaps the most exciting feature of the Explorer Sport is the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. The engine utilizes direct fuel injection and turbo technology to maximize power and fuel economy. This technology enables the sporty and powerful engine to put out 365hp, while getting nearly 22 miles per gallon on the highway. In addition to the powerful EcoBoost engine, the Explorer sport is also rich with other performance features, include a select shift automatic transmission that allows the driver to shift the transmission using steering wheel mounted paddles. The explorer sport also boasts a sport tuned suspension for a more refined and sportier ride.

While these performance geared features are impressive, the Explorer Sport also has some really unique styling and trim features (See the Gallery Below). On the exterior, the Explorer Sport maintains a sporty appearance with it’s smoked out headlights and taillights. Also unique to the Explorer Sport is the raised “EXPLORER” raised painted lettering on the hood. In addition to some other black color body appliques, the Explorer Sport shows off it’s styling with some aggressive looking, black painted pocket wheels. While the Explorer Sport is Sporty on the outside and under the hood, it offers a softer, but refined interior that complements the exterior styling features of the car. The leather trimmed seats, with a unique insert maintain the sporty feel of the car, while bringing some balance to the blacked out look. The steering wheel also gives drivers a sporty feeling, with some soft leather stitching to provide comfort.

The Explorer Sport comes available with a choice between two equipment groups, the 400A and the 402A equipment groups. So far at Acton Ford, our customers are favoring the 402A equipment group.
