Saturday, April 27th, 2013 brought picture perfect weather for the Assabet Valley Little League Opening Day events in Maynard, MA.
The day began with the traditional Opening Day parade, which starts in downtown Maynard, and ended at Alumni Field. The parade was lead by Maynard Fire Department, followed closely by the police department.
The various teams of the AVLL made up the majority of the parade, youngest to oldest, and eventually all gathered at the Alumni field
All of the teams were announced, along with all of the very generous sponsors.
A moment of silence was also held in remembrance of the Boston Marathon tragedy.
Our Finance Manger, Shawn Cook, a local Maynard resident, was there to support his daughter, Julia, in her 4th year with her softball team. His wife is also on the board of the AVLL.
Shawn drove a 2013 Ford Fusion Energi to the event.
